Help me be a Birthday Hero!

Story

Birthday gifts aaaaaalllllllll month long!

This year I've celebrated my birthday a little differently!  I chose to use the month of March - MY birthday month (which I know you've all been preparing for the past year) as an opportunity to fundraise for a cause I truly believe in and am personally dedicated to OIC: The Cambodia Project

Receiving a donation from you would be the BEST birthday gift ever!

I'm currently devoting a large chunk of my spare time to OIC: The Cambodia Project as their Volunteer Coordinator and I absolutely stand behind their aims both short and long term.

I can comfortably and enthusiastically ask you to consider a contribution big or small because I can testify first hand to the great work that is being done.

OIC: The Cambodia Project have two aims at the core of what they do:

1- To provide training in speech therapy services across Cambodia

2- To graduate the first generation of Cambodian speech therapists from a Cambodian university

They are dedicated to having a long lasting impact on the impossible number of children living in Cambodia with communication and/or swallowing needs but who currently have no access to Speech Therapy services.  By donating funds you too have the potential to play a part in supporting outcomes for these children to improve in the future.

I know $1000.00 is a BIG amount, a lot to ask for...but I've chosen this target for two key reasons

1. This may quite possibly be the last birthday I ever celebrate....as the one after this is the big three-oh (I can't even bring myself to write it)

2. $1000.00 is enough to train 30 teachers in Cambodian education settings on how to work with and support children who have communication difficulties. That's huge!

I am so grateful to those of you that support me in this endeavour. I welcome you all to read more about the cause on the website oiccambodia.org or facebook page 'OIC: The Cambodia Project'

Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to OIC: The Cambodia Project

OIC Cambodia (Education) (Global Development Group – J703N)

OIC Cambodia (Education) is a Global Development Group approved aid and development project (J703N)  which aims to address the gap in health services in Cambodia for more than 600,000 people with a communication or swallowing disability.

Communicating with others is at the heart of being human and helping people communicate is at the heart of what we do. We are working towards a Cambodia where each of these people receives the speech therapy services they need to communicate with those around them, and lead full and happy lives.

We have two significant goals to addressing the speech therapy needs in Cambodia:

  • To train teachers in speech therapy-based inclusive education to better include children with communication disabilities into schools. This project will benefit 180 teachers and 5,400 children with communication disabilities across six provinces in Cambodia.
  • To graduate the first generation of Cambodian speech therapists from a Cambodian university.

OIC Cambodia is proud to be a partner for Project J703N OIC Cambodia (Education) with Global Development Group (ABN: 57 102 400 993), an Australian DFAT approved Non-Government Organisation.
